About the role

HEI is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join its civil construction teams across the United States. You will operate a range of heavy‑equipment machines on projects that include roads, bridges, water infrastructure and environmental restoration.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators, front loaders, mini‑loaders (skid steer), bulldozers, motor graders and water tankers safely and efficiently.
• Follow all site safety policies, traffic regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain three points of contact on equipment at all times.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, complete check‑lists and report any needed repairs.
• Clean and perform routine maintenance on assigned machinery.
• Attend daily safety briefings and report safety violations or incidents.
• Carry out additional tasks assigned by the foreman when not operating equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• More than 5 years of experience operating main‑line construction machinery.
• Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.
• Ability to read safety rules, plans, maintenance instructions and operational procedures.
• Strong teamwork orientation and good hand‑eye‑foot coordination.
