Nuclear Pharmacist – Healthcare Operations

About the role

The Nuclear Pharmacist will join Cardinal Health's Health System Pharmacy team, providing radiopharmaceuticals and related services to hospitals, clinics and other healthcare providers. The role ensures safe, compliant preparation and dispensing of radioactive drugs while supporting customers through order management and technical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process telephone orders using Order Receipt and Order Entry systems, verifying drug names, dosages and customer specifications.
• Prepare, dispense and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with company, state and federal regulations.
• Perform quality control tests, medication assays, and white‑blood‑cell labeling, documenting all activities.
• Maintain inventory, oversee stock‑room organization using 5S methodology, and manage incoming/outgoing shipments.
• Supervise Nuclear Pharmacy Technicians where permitted, and act as Pharmacist in Charge when needed.
• Collect customer impact data, review Pharmacy Scorecard, and complete operational excellence training.
• Train newly hired pharmacy associates and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Knowledge of Board of Pharmacy (BOP) state laws and federal regulations for radioactive orders.
• Ability to identify failure modes and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Experience in a pharmacy or nuclear pharmacy environment, preferably in a hospital or health‑system setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety.
