Multimedia Designer – Science Academy

About the role

The Science Academy at the University of Maryland seeks a creative Multimedia Designer to produce and coordinate video, audio, graphics, and photography resources that support STEM courses and departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and produce multimedia assets, including videos, audio clips, graphics, and photos for the college.
• Develop course‑related media for instructors and implement a production workflow.
• Create and evaluate multimedia resources using defined success metrics.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external clients to translate technical content into clear visual formats.
• Maintain accessibility standards (WCAG) throughout all deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (up to four years of experience may substitute for the degree).
• At least one year of professional experience in multimedia, communications, or marketing.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Commitment to customer service and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
• Experience using Canva, Camtasia, and other video‑editing software.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace (GSuite) and Microsoft Office, especially Google Slides and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and ability to apply them to multimedia content.
• Experience with Canvas or similar Learning Management Systems.
