Method Development Chemist – Lake Zurich, IL

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Method Development Chemist to lead analytical method development and validation of chemical compounds in its Lake Zurich laboratory. The role involves independent data review, troubleshooting, and supporting routine analysts while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate analytical methods for chemical compounds, primarily using HPLC.
• Provide guidance to routine analysts on troubleshooting and methodology questions.
• Perform routine analysis across analytical departments and review data independently.
• Write and review SOPs, STPs, and ensure proper data entry.
• Investigate QA issues and conduct statistical analyses on quality control samples.
• Set up new instrumentation, oversee equipment operation, supply levels, and repairs.
• Maintain laboratory benchmarks for quality, turnaround times, and safety compliance.

Required profile

• BA/BS in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
• 3–5 years of experience in analytical method development, preferably with HPLC.
• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
