Mentor Coordinator

About the role

Mentor Coordinators support DREAM’s Village Mentoring and Afterschool programs by training, recruiting, and guiding volunteer mentors from college campuses. The role works closely with Youth Service Managers to ensure high‑quality, culturally responsive mentoring experiences for youth in Portland.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure volunteer mentors understand the program model, their roles, and receive necessary training and resources.
• Collaborate with the Youth Services Manager to assess mentee needs and facilitate communication between mentors, staff, and community partners.
• Build and maintain relationships with each mentor and mentee, aiming for a 1:1 mentor‑to‑mentee ratio and overall chapter wellness.
• Oversee recruitment, compliance (background checks, documentation), and strategic planning for chapter growth.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident; at least 17 years old (or 16 for out‑of‑school youth).
• Commitment to the full service term and to DREAM’s mission of reducing the Opportunity Gap.
• Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion with experience serving diverse communities.
• Ability to manage time, travel to college campuses, and maintain reliable communication.
