Mentor Coordinator – AmeriCorps (Current Chairs)

About the role

The Mentor Coordinator supports the DREAM Program by training, supporting, and recruiting volunteer mentors from college campuses. This role focuses on the Village Mentoring program, providing holistic support to mentees while working closely with the Program Director.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure volunteer mentors understand the Village Mentoring model and their roles.
• Conduct individual needs assessments of mentees and facilitate communication among mentors, support staff, and the community.
• Provide resources and training to mentors for high‑quality mentoring experiences.
• Build relationships with every volunteer mentor and mentee in the supported chapter.
• Plan and execute chapter growth, maintain a 1:1 mentor‑mentee ratio, and oversee compliance such as background checks.

Required profile

• Current Chair of the DREAM Program at a Northern Vermont chapter.
• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident; at least 17 years old (or 16 if out‑of‑school youth).
• Commitment to the full service term and to DREAM’s mission of equity and inclusion.
• Ability to pass required criminal history checks and background verification.
• Reliable transportation, phone, and ability to meet in person regularly.
