Master Plumber / Pipefitter

About the role

This fast‑paced, highly visible advanced journeyman position requires superior technical knowledge of plumbing systems and related fixtures across more than 150 major buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, troubleshoot, modify and maintain utility systems including high/low pressure steam, condensate, fire protection, sanitary sewer, compressed air, chilled water, domestic water, storm water and heating water.
• Fabricate, install and repair piping made of cast iron, steel, copper, PVC, PE and HDPE above and below ground, including tunnel installations.
• Diagnose and clear blockages in sewer and drainage systems using high‑pressure water and blast cleaning equipment.
• Install piping systems from complex drawings, handling copper, cast iron, plastic and steel materials.
• Maintain pressure regulators, gauges, steam traps, safety relief valves, flow meters, expansion joints and block valves.
• Perform related trade tasks such as thermal insulation, welding, soldering, excavation, shoring, underground pipe coating and cathodic protection.
• Operate natural‑gas leak detectors, underground pipe locators, welding machines and trackhoe/backhoes.
• Prepare material and purchase requisitions and complete other assigned duties.

Required profile

• At least three years of experience or training in pipefitting, steam fitting or plumbing.
• Valid driver’s license; subject to motor vehicle record check and drug screening.
• Ability to obtain a physical evaluation and meet safety‑sensitive position requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cast iron, steel, copper, PVC, PE and HDPE piping systems.
• Experience with high/low pressure steam, condensate, fire protection, sanitary sewer, compressed air, chilled water, domestic water and storm water utilities.
• Proficiency in fabrication, installation, welding, soldering, excavation and pipe‑coating techniques.
• Operation of high‑pressure water blasting, gas leak detectors, pipe locators and heavy equipment.
