Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

3M is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its global team of innovative professionals. In this role you will apply engineering and continuous‑improvement methods to enhance safety, quality, cost, capacity and productivity across manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, initiate and lead projects that improve process safety, quality, service, cost, capacity and productivity.
• Improve equipment capability using standard work, tier reviews and Kaizen events.
• Troubleshoot variation, perform root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
• Engage in daily operations to resolve equipment downtime, assure quality and meet service targets.
• Create and maintain documentation such as specifications, preventative‑maintenance plans and change‑management records.
• Build a network of support across laboratory, quality, finance, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing.
• Communicate at all organizational levels to drive direction and act as a technical resource for the work group.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED (minimum) and five years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military setting.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering field is preferred.
• Experience with continuous‑improvement methods, statistics, designed experiments and Six Sigma (Green Belt is a plus).
• Knowledge of equipment reliability concepts and plant‑utility optimization.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and adapt to change.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
• Six Sigma Green Belt (or similar continuous‑improvement certification).
• Statistical analysis and designed experiments.
• Root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Kaizen, standard work and tier‑review methodologies.
