Maintenance Technician – Urbana

About the role

This position performs technical and mechanical work to ensure the buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas meet Greystar’s standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Complete work orders from resident requests and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues and repairing according to policies, safety standards, and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, repairs, and final inspection.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, tracking usage, returning unused items, and notifying the supervisor of re‑order needs.
• Maintain grounds and common areas by removing trash, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, cleaning, and painting curbs and signage as required.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts when possible and using materials efficiently.

Required profile

• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, lift up to 25 lb independently (50 lb with assistance) and work in all weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work a rotating on‑call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Compliance with safety policies, participation in OSHA training, and prompt reporting of incidents.
• Valid driver’s license for operating a golf cart when needed.

Required skills

• EPA Type 1 refrigerant certification.
• EPA Type 2 refrigerant certification.
• Universal refrigerant certification for refrigerant recycling.
