Maintenance Technician II – Baton Rouge

About the role

The American Red Cross is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join its Louisiana Region team in Baton Rouge. Under close supervision, you will perform repairs and preventive maintenance across our facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff, volunteers, and the communities we serve.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair building structures, equipment, and systems including boilers, chillers, motors, fans, and pumps.
• Perform carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, sheet‑metal fabrication, and welding tasks as needed.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and service machines and equipment using hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Document repairs and installations to meet regulatory requirements.
• Estimate time and material costs, requisition supplies, and manage inventory.
• Assist with landscaping duties such as planting, pruning, watering, and seasonal clean‑up.

Required profile

• Experience working in one or more maintenance trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely under supervision.
• Comfort with using hand and power tools and reading technical documentation.
• Willingness to support volunteers and collaborate with a diverse team.
