Maintenance Mechanical Technician – Night Shift

About the role

Join 3M’s Plant Engineering team in Prairie du Chien as a Maintenance Mechanical Technician working the 12‑hour night shift. You will maintain, repair, and overhaul a variety of production and facilities equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, install, and overhaul production and facilities equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, refrigeration systems, and boilers.
• Perform mechanical and pipefitting work, including welding, threading, and using lathes and other shop equipment safely.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment by inspecting parts, reading work orders, and using schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Safely dismantle, repair, and reassemble equipment using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, and hoists, while documenting activities.
• Support maintenance operations by assisting apprentice training, monitoring contractors, and performing additional duties as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or higher (verified prior to start).
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, or completion of a federally certified journeyman program (8,000 hours), or a technical college degree in a mechanical field.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Experience with pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, refrigeration systems, and boilers.
• Mechanical and pipefitting skills including welding, threading, and use of lathes.
• Proficiency with hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, hoists, and shop equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
