Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician II

About the role

GDIT is seeking a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician II to join its team and support critical telecommunications infrastructure. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing LMR systems to ensure reliable communication for agency operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of LMR base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios.
• Verify services by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identify, correct, or escalate issues.
• Respond to emergency calls and system failures on customer sites.
• Install, remove, modify, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications equipment, including running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables.
• Install routers, switches, multiplexors, and cable trays as required.
• Apply hands‑on experience with Motorola and other LMR equipment for troubleshooting and maintenance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of related experience with LMR systems.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to hold a Secret security clearance.
• Qualified to install LMR base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios.

Required skills

• Communications consoles and XTS‑5000 repeaters.
• Hand‑held radios, trunked and non‑trunked LMR systems.
• Key loaders, antennas, multi‑couplers, duplexers.
• Test equipment: service monitors, system analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, frequency counters, power meters, spectrum analyzer.
• Digital recording equipment, OTAR keying equipment, site controllers.
• Routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, cable splicing.
