Laboratory Procedure Technician - Gross Room

About the role

The Laboratory Procedure Technician works in the Gross Room of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, supporting pathology and clinical services by preparing specimens for analysis. This full‑time, onsite position is part of the Clinical Support team and contributes directly to patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, label, and accession surgical and biopsy specimens.
• Perform gross dissection, tissue sampling, and preparation according to standard protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of specimens throughout the workflow.
• Operate and clean laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with pathologists, technologists, and other clinical staff to facilitate timely diagnosis.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional laboratory training preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed procedural instructions and maintain meticulous records.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
