IT Support Specialist

About the role

Vulcan Elements is seeking an IT Support Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance across its office and manufacturing facilities. The role ensures high system uptime, supports digital infrastructure, and maintains a secure, regulated environment for critical national‑security operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for laptops, peripherals, mobile devices, and office equipment.
• Execute onboarding and offboarding processes, including hardware provisioning, account creation, and user training on IT policies.
• Assist in installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment, servers, and industrial devices.
• Enforce cybersecurity controls aligned with NIST 800‑171, CMMC, and ITAR/EAR requirements.
• Maintain accurate asset inventory, software licenses, and technical documentation.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to support automation and data‑collection workflows.
• Support Azure AD (Entra ID) accounts, MFA setup, and access to Azure‑hosted resources.
• Administer the Microsoft 365 tenant, including Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune.
• Troubleshoot Ubiquiti UniFi switches, access points, and gateways.
• Manage SharePoint site permissions and document libraries.
• Maintain on‑prem Active Directory, GPO enforcement, and hybrid identity with Entra Connect.

Required profile

• 1+ years of experience in IT support, help‑desk, or systems administration, preferably in a manufacturing or high‑security environment.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Familiarity with NIST, CMMC, and experience in ITAR/EAR‑controlled settings.
• Hands‑on “fixer” mentality with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues independently.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in a manufacturing environment.
• CompTIA A+ certification.
• U.S. Person status required for access to export‑controlled information.
