IT Product Engineering Internship – Common Capabilities

About the role

Mapfre Insurance is offering a 10‑week summer internship (June 6 – August 13) in Webster, MA. As an IT Product Engineering – Common Capabilities Intern you will help build, test and improve shared technology platforms, tools and services that support multiple products across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and resolve security risks in public‑cloud and data‑center environments, including vulnerability scanning on networks, Linux/Windows systems, VMware and AWS.
• Develop hands‑on skills with security scanning tools and SIEM platforms, coordinate firewall port changes, and implement Akamai solutions for public‑facing URLs.
• Assist with software development projects, build and test reusable services, APIs or platform features, and debug issues.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and architects on requirements, design and Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives.

Required profile

• Undergraduate (rising junior/senior) or final‑year graduate student majoring in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with solid math aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
• Knowledge of AWS, Linux, Windows, networking, firewalls and general cyber‑security concepts.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python, Java, C#, JavaScript (or similar).
• Cloud and infrastructure: AWS, Linux, Windows, VMware.
• Security tools: vulnerability scanning tools, SIEM, Akamai.
• Networking fundamentals, firewalls, cyber‑security best practices.
