Infrastructure Capacity Planner, Demand Planning

About the role

Anthropic is looking for an Infrastructure Capacity Planner to join its Demand Planning team in San Francisco. The role will own medium-range demand forecasts for all resource classes the company consumes, supporting sourcing, purchasing, and workload optimization across its rapidly expanding cloud, neocloud, and on-prem infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain medium-range multi-resource demand forecasts (accelerators, CPU, storage, network egress, and managed services) based on model roadmaps, inference growth, evaluation volume, and retention policies.
• Run the plan-vs-reality loop by comparing planned allocations with actual fleet occupancy weekly, identifying gaps, and driving variance toward zero with planning tools and data teams.
• Qualify incoming capacity tranches against the forecast, ensuring correct shape, region, quarter, and supporting-resource envelope before signing.
• Partner with Finance and cost-efficiency teams to translate forecasts into cost drivers covering the majority of non-accelerator spend and to target savings opportunities.

Required profile

• Experience in capacity, demand, or supply planning for large-scale technical infrastructure such as cloud, HPC, hyperscale, or large internal platforms.
• Ability to distinguish between a forecast, a plan, and an allocation and to communicate those concepts clearly.
• Hands-on experience building forecasting models rather than only specifying them.
• Strong understanding of data-center resource classes and their distinct forecasting characteristics.
• Preference for simple, inspectable models and a habit of instrumenting forecast error.
