About the role
The Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing process control instrumentation, valves, analyzers, and electrical systems at the INEOS Cooper River plant. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while working closely with the Maintenance and Reliability team.
Key responsibilities
- Perform maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Calibrate process control instrumentation and analyzers.
- Remove, troubleshoot, repair, and install automated process control valves.
- Maintain process equipment according to established procedures.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with operations personnel and assist operators in troubleshooting.
- Provide emergency plant support on the day shift and on‑call assistance during off‑hours.
- Deliver I&E support to unit engineering functions.
- Assist in equipment troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis.
- Complete work documentation and computer system entries.
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
- Perform any related duties as required.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED (associate degree in a related field is a plus).
- Minimum 5 years of industrial/manufacturing repair experience in I&E, or 4 years of military I&E experience.
- Legal authorization to work full‑time in the United States.
- Passing score on pre‑employment mechanical aptitude, reading, and mathematics tests.
- Ability to read and follow detailed operating, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Willingness to be on call, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to relocate to or commute daily to the Cooper River plant.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Required skills
- PLC monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Calibration of process control instrumentation and analyzers.
- Repair and installation of automated process control valves.
- Maintenance of electrical equipment and distribution systems.
- Reading and interpreting schematics and electrical drawings.
- Root‑cause failure analysis.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and response to industrial emergencies.
