HVAC Design Engineer (Commercial Projects)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled HVAC Design Engineer / CAD Designer to join our engineering team. The position focuses on preparing construction‑ready HVAC shop drawings, coordination documents, as‑built drawings, and material takeoffs for commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational and public‑sector projects across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate HVAC shop drawings for ductwork, chilled water, hot water, refrigerant piping, and equipment layouts.
• Create coordination drawings that integrate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical, and fire‑protection disciplines.
• Participate in coordination meetings and resolve drawing conflicts before fabrication.
• Update as‑built drawings based on field mark‑ups and maintain revision control.
• Generate detailed material quantity takeoffs (MTO) and Bills of Materials (BOM) for all HVAC components.
• Review contract drawings, specifications, RFIs, bulletins and change orders, and incorporate feedback into revised documents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience preparing HVAC shop drawings.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).
• Experience with Autodesk Revit (preferred) and familiarity with BIM, Navisworks or other 3D modeling tools.
• Ability to read and interpret U.S. construction drawings, specifications and related documents.
