Hostess

About the role

The Hostess is the first point of contact for members and guests entering the dining facilities at Discovery Land Company. This role creates a welcoming first impression and directly influences the overall experience of guests.

Key responsibilities

• Greet members and guests with a smile, using their names whenever possible.
• Maintain eye contact, proper posture, and a professional demeanor.
• Manage reservations and walk‑ins, scheduling them by phone, email, or in person.
• Ensure reserved tables are ready before guests arrive.
• Escort guests to their assigned tables based on party size.
• Thank guests for their patronage and invite them to return.
• Support Food & Beverage staff and uphold club policies and standards.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months experience in a fine‑dining or high‑volume, high‑end restaurant, resort, or private club.
• Knowledge of HACCP and local food safety standards; ability to obtain a State Food Safety Certificate.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and long hours as needed.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and stay calm during busy periods.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift items up to 50 lb for extended periods.
