Heavy Civil Construction Engineer

About the role

Our client, a family‑owned heavy civil contractor in Southern California, is seeking a seasoned Heavy Civil Construction Engineer to lead public‑works projects built to Caltrans specifications. The position is based in Anaheim and offers the chance to manage large‑scale infrastructure from both field and financial perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support execution of heavy civil and public works projects meeting Caltrans standards.
• Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting and overall financial performance.
• Oversee field operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
• Coordinate crews, subcontractors, schedules and resources.
• Support project planning, documentation, change management and client coordination.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, quality standards and public agency requirements.

Required profile

• 10+ years of construction experience on contractor‑side heavy civil or public works projects.
• Strong background with Caltrans specifications and large infrastructure such as bridges, freeway widening, retaining walls, pump stations or seismic‑resistant structures.
• Proven budget ownership and financial responsibility.
• Experience managing crews and field operations.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• Base salary $200,000‑$225,000 per year.
