Head Start Teacher – Early Childhood Education

About the role

The Head Start Teacher is responsible for creating and delivering individualized and group educational plans for preschool children, fostering social‑emotional, physical, and cognitive development. This role ensures a safe, developmentally appropriate classroom environment and complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans and activities that promote school readiness.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Keep accurate paper and electronic records, including observations, assessments, and screenings.
• Supervise Teacher Assistants, Program Aides, and Volunteers, supporting their skill development.
• Provide constant supervision during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring playground safety.
• Communicate important issues to the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion.

Required profile

• Ability to develop and deliver individualized and group lesson plans for preschool children.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy classroom that meets regulatory standards.
• Strong communication skills for engaging families and collaborating with staff.
• Experience supervising assistants and volunteers in an early‑childhood setting.
