Head of Government Relations

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Head of Government Relations to map and engage federal stakeholders, forecast policy risks, and unlock national‑level relationships and funding. This senior position reports to Cape’s Head of Federal and will have an outsized impact on the company’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a long‑term, milestone‑based government strategy.
• Map key government stakeholders to company needs.
• Forecast political, policy, budgetary, and regulatory changes and volatility.
• Shape new policies beneficial to the company and its customers.
• Form and mature partnerships with third parties in the federal ecosystem.
• Optimize relationships with external advisors, experts, and lobbyists.
• Engage resource sponsors to achieve established strategic end‑states.
• Establish, attend, and manage events that bridge industry and government affairs.

Required profile

• Prior experience in fast‑paced environments with end‑to‑end ownership.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain external relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Executive communication skills and awareness of protocol in political and bureaucratic offices.
• First‑hand knowledge of the federal legislative process (lobbying, Congressional fellowship, PSM/MLA, etc.).
• Strategic planning ability to create multi‑year government engagement plans.
• Relevant academic background in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or similar fields.
