Head of Engineering

About the role

Tread is building an AI‑native operating system for the $660B construction materials logistics market. As Head of Engineering you will partner directly with the CEO to shape and run the next generation of this platform, driving an AI‑first software development lifecycle across product, data, payments and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end engineering execution for product, platform, data, payments, AI infrastructure and internal tooling.
• Recruit, mentor and raise the performance bar of a fast‑growing engineering team.
• Define and enforce AI‑driven SDLC processes, including specification, architecture documentation, code review, quality gates and CI/CD integration.
• Ensure reliability, correctness and trust in a financial system of record that moves freight and money.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to align technical roadmaps with business objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an AI‑first engineering organization where coding agents contribute significantly to production delivery.
• Deep understanding of how AI integrates into specification, implementation, testing and release management.
• Track record of building high‑velocity teams while maintaining product reliability.
• Ability to articulate and enforce rigorous evaluation frameworks that prevent regressions and hallucinations.
