Head of Data Center Operations – Distributed AI Infrastructure

About the role

Perimeter Compute, a pre‑seed venture backed by Montauk Capital, is building a network of modular, metro‑edge AI infrastructure sites. We are looking for a senior leader to design, launch, and operate this rapidly expanding data‑center portfolio across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Translate site requirements into detailed launch plans covering power, cooling, connectivity, security, equipment installation, testing and commissioning.
• Lead each site activation from construction and fit‑out through to steady‑state operation.
• Define and implement the contract workforce model for every market, including staffing levels, scopes of work and performance expectations.
• Select, onboard and manage outsourced operators, field‑service providers and maintenance partners.
• Create and maintain operating procedures, runbooks, preventive‑maintenance programs and incident‑response processes.
• Travel to new sites for launches and critical operational periods.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in data‑center operations, preferably with AI or high‑performance compute workloads.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑site, multi‑metro projects from concept to production.
• Strong vendor and contractor management skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving startup environment and building teams from the ground up.
