Handbag Designer

About the role

Gina Concepts is looking for a talented Handbag & Accessories Designer to join its New York team. You will lead the design and development of handbags, small leather goods, cosmetic cases, and travel bags for multiple brands and private‑label collections.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design from concept to production for handbags, backpacks, and SLGs.
• Research seasonal fashion and market trends, including silhouettes, colors, materials, trims, hardware, prints, and construction techniques.
• Create seasonal design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, material stories, prints, and graphics aligned with brand direction.
• Produce sketches, technical designs, tech packs, line sheets, style guides, and presentation boards.
• Present collections and line sheets to internal teams, sales, buyers, and external partners.
• Manage sample development, track requests, review revisions, and ensure milestones are met.
• Communicate daily with overseas factories and sourcing partners on sample status, materials, construction, costs, and timelines.
• Review and approve pre‑production samples, ensuring design, construction, hardware, functionality, and color meet requirements.
• Maintain accurate style information and development documentation in the PLM system.
• Collaborate on material development and approvals, focusing on PU/faux leather, hardware, and trims.

Required profile

• Strong portfolio demonstrating handbag and accessories design.
• Excellent understanding of fashion trends, materials, and construction techniques.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and project‑management skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with design, product development, and sourcing teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLM systems.
