Graphic Designer

About the role

Japan Society is looking for a Graphic Designer to lead visual production across all marketing channels. You will ensure the brand is expressed consistently, creatively, and with high quality in both print and digital media.

Key responsibilities

• Design print and digital marketing assets such as event collateral, posters, programs, signage, social media graphics, email headers, and digital ads.
• Maintain and apply brand standards, collaborating closely with the Marketing Director.
• Prepare production‑ready files, manage relationships with print shops and other vendors, and oversee quality control.
• Partner with the Web Producer to create web‑focused visuals, including page layouts, banners, and UX‑informed design recommendations.
• Develop templates and design systems that streamline on‑brand production.
• Coordinate quotes, timelines, and deliverables with external creative partners (illustrators, motion designers, etc.).
• Track production schedules, flag potential conflicts, and keep organized records of projects, communications, and invoices.

• Detail‑oriented designer who thrives in a fast‑paced cultural institution.
• Strong portfolio showcasing print and digital work.
• Ability to support teammates during high‑volume periods or staff absences.
• Enthusiasm for Japan Society’s mission and cultural programming.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator.
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign.
