Global Category Buyer – Surfactants

About the role

Join BASF’s Global Procurement team as a Global Category Buyer for Surfactants. You will shape supply strategies for the North American region, working closely with business units and the broader procurement network to secure competitive raw‑material sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement global supply strategies for surfactant categories across North America.
• Lead the full sourcing cycle (RFI, RFQ, RFP) for strategic contracts and complex negotiations.
• Manage key supplier relationships, monitor performance metrics, and resolve claims or disputes.
• Provide market intelligence and regional input to support global category strategy development.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align supplier capabilities with BASF’s strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic and tactical procurement, preferably in chemicals or related industries.
• Strong negotiation skills and a track record of delivering measurable business value.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience working with cross‑functional or cross‑business unit teams is advantageous.
