Founding Strategic Finance

About the role

Roadrunner is building a new enterprise pricing stack and needs its first finance leader. As the founding strategic finance professional you will own the company’s financial health end‑to‑end and build the finance function from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement financial systems, reporting, and processes that give leadership clear visibility of performance and forecasts.
• Craft the financial narrative for the board and investors, covering runway, burn rate, growth metrics and strategic implications.
• Partner with sales, product and leadership teams to evaluate deal economics, headcount and budgeting decisions using real data.
• Determine which finance activities to handle internally versus outsource, and drive execution of both.
• Take over day‑to‑day financial operations from the founder, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Build the first comprehensive FP&A model, including budgets, scenario planning and headcount forecasts.

Required profile

• Proven experience running finance at a high‑growth startup, preferably as the first or sole finance hire.
• Strong operator and strategist – able to dive into details and present at board level.
• Excellent judgment on building, buying or outsourcing finance capabilities.
• Business‑partner mindset, actively influencing decisions rather than only reporting.
• Comfortable creating structure in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments.
• Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate to work onsite.
