Founding ML Engineer

About the role

Weave, a Y Combinator W25 startup, is building an AI‑driven platform that gives engineering teams deep insight into productivity, impact, and collaboration. As the Founding ML Engineer you will design and ship machine‑learning systems that turn raw engineering activity into actionable intelligence, helping customers work ten times more efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and productionize end‑to‑end ML pipelines that ingest engineering data, perform feature engineering, and generate predictive models.
• Establish standards, tooling, and processes to make future model development faster and more reliable.
• Collaborate closely with the CTO and CEO to align ML solutions with product vision and customer needs.
• Iterate on models based on real‑world feedback, continuously improving accuracy and usefulness.
• Help shape the overall data strategy and architecture for the platform.

Required profile

• Proven ability to ship ML systems from research to production in a fast‑moving startup environment.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and willingness to take ownership of ambiguous challenges.
• Pragmatic attitude toward trade‑offs, knowing when to prioritize speed versus robustness.
• Empathy for end users, with a focus on building tools that genuinely improve engineers’ daily work.

Required skills

• Experience with full‑stack ML workflow: data selection, feature engineering, model design, deployment, and iteration.
• Ability to build scalable data pipelines and model serving infrastructure.
• Familiarity with modern AI techniques applicable to software engineering analytics.
