Founding Business Development Representative – Mid Market

About the role

Join Alma’s founding Mid Market sales team as a Business Development Representative (BDR). You’ll work in the Bay Area, meeting decision‑makers in person to generate qualified pipeline for Account Executives and help companies simplify global talent hiring.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and engage People team leaders (CPOs, VPs of People, Heads of HR, People Ops) at Mid Market and Enterprise accounts.
• Visit company offices and use creative, in‑person tactics to secure meetings.
• Represent Alma at industry events, conferences, and meetups to build relationships and pipeline.
• Collaborate with an Account Executive to plan territory coverage and prioritize target accounts.
• Qualify prospects on hiring plans, visa needs, and urgency before hand‑off.
• Maintain accurate CRM activity, notes, and pipeline data.
• Follow up with leads via LinkedIn, cold calls, and email.
• Test and share new outreach approaches with the team.

Required profile

• Highly organized with the ability to manage a busy schedule and growing pipeline.
• Outgoing and comfortable engaging senior decision‑makers in person.
• Genuinely enthusiastic about Alma’s mission and able to convey that excitement.
• Persistent, staying motivated through rejection and repeated outreach.
• Clear, confident communicator who can hold their own with HR and People leaders.
• Comfortable building relationships both on the phone and face‑to‑face.
