Excise Tax Senior

About the role

EY is seeking a Senior Excise Tax professional to join its EDGE practice. You will support a diverse portfolio of US and global clients across industries such as oil & gas, transportation, manufacturing and retail, delivering high‑quality compliance and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file US Federal and State excise tax returns, including fuel tax obligations.
• Provide advisory support on due‑diligence reviews, structuring, licensing research, controversy, and new legislation interpretation.
• Review and coach junior staff on memos, ruling requests and other correspondence.
• Develop practical tax planning approaches and implementation plans for complex client situations.
• Stay current on tax trends, legislation and industry developments.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of US excise tax concepts and regulations.
• Ability to analyze data, benchmark historical information and produce actionable recommendations.
• Excellent research skills for advanced tax issues.
• Effective communication and collaboration with clients and internal teams.
• Experience coaching and developing junior staff.
