About the role
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Environmental Health Scientist to support the evaluation of public health risks associated with environmental contaminants. Based in Atlanta, GA, the role involves collaborating with cooperative agreement recipients and leading technical project teams to address exposure‑related health issues.
Key responsibilities
- Consult with cooperative agreement recipients and lead technical project teams to assess public health implications of environmental contaminant exposures.
- Develop and contribute to public health assessments, consultations, and related activities concerning adverse health effects of chemicals and hazardous substances.
- Provide guidance on evaluating public health impacts of human exposure to harmful environmental substances.
- Participate in public meetings, workshops, webinars, and committee meetings on hazardous substance exposure and related public health topics.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in a medical, health sciences, or allied scientific field.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level, including evaluating environmental health issues, managing grants or cooperative agreements, and providing technical advice in environmental science.
