Engineering Manager, Inference

About the role

Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable and steerable AI systems. As an Engineering Manager on the performance and scaling teams, you will lead efforts to improve model performance and scale inference and training infrastructure, ensuring the most efficient use of compute resources.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑line leadership to improve model performance and scale inference and training systems.
• Contribute as an individual contributor on the team’s technical stack when needed.
• Manage day‑to‑day execution, prioritize work, and drive projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Coach and support engineers in their professional growth.
• Maintain deep understanding of technical work and its implications for AI safety.

Required profile

• 1+ years of management experience in a technical environment, preferably with performance or distributed systems.
• Background in machine learning, AI, or a closely related field.
• Strong interest in the safe development of advanced AI systems.
• Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience guiding teams through rapid growth and change.
