Engineering Manager, Data

About the role

Cartesia is building AI that learns and interacts like humans. As the Engineering Manager, Data you will own the systems, datasets, and research that make our training data exceptional, driving the quality of multimodal data at web scale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high‑caliber team of data infrastructure engineers and data‑focused researchers.
• Set technical direction for processing, storing, and serving petabytes of multimodal data.
• Drive creation of state‑of‑the‑art multimodal pre‑training datasets and annotation models.
• Establish empirical approaches to data quality and feed insights back into dataset decisions.
• Partner with modeling and research teams to translate data work into better models.

Required profile

• Proven management experience, directly leading a data team of at least six people.
• Hands‑on familiarity with data infrastructure at scale – processing, storage, and large‑scale data systems.
• Track record of building and leading data efforts, ideally within a modeling project.

Required skills

• Previous modeling experience.
• Experience building data for a generative modeling organization.
• Familiarity with multimodal data (audio, speech, and beyond).
