Emergency Medicine Physician & Fellowship Program Director

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an academic emergency physician to join its Division of Emergency Ultrasound and to serve as the inaugural Program Director for an Advanced Emergency Ultrasonography Fellowship. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership in ultrasound education at a major academic medical center.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation, accreditation, and administration of the Advanced Emergency Ultrasonography Fellowship.
• Develop and oversee the fellowship curriculum, recruit fellows, and coordinate with existing division faculty.
• Maintain quality‑assurance processes, billing practices, and integration of fellowship activities with the department’s ultrasound education program.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible emergency physician with completed ultrasound fellowship training.
• Demonstrated passion for program development, mentorship, and academic education.
• Experience working in a high‑volume tertiary emergency department and collaborative academic environment.

Required skills

• Point‑of‑care ultrasound proficiency.
• Operation of dedicated ultrasound machines and Qpath quality‑assurance workflow.
• Performance of advanced procedural ultrasound examinations (nerve blocks, endocavitary studies).
• Knowledge of medical billing practices related to ultrasound services.
