About the role
The Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator I to support fire‑related disaster response and recovery. This temporary position (up to 90 days) will help coordinate resources, develop plans, and assist communities affected by recent windstorms and wildfires.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in researching, developing, and maintaining emergency and disaster plans, policies, and procedures.
- Support the design and execution of emergency response and recovery exercises and training.
- Recommend deployment of personnel, equipment, and supplies during emergencies.
- Coordinate response actions from the County Emergency Operations Center or field incident command posts.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, information sheets, brochures, manuals, and checklists for government agencies, community groups, and the public.
- Advise schools, industry groups, and the public on disaster preparedness and ensure readiness of operations personnel, facilities, and equipment.
- Communicate verbally, in writing, or via graphics with County management, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in emergency exercises and train emergency services workers.
- Operate emergency communications equipment and manage response materials and personnel on a rotational basis.
Required profile
- Demonstrated interest in emergency management and public safety.
- Ability to work in high‑stress, fast‑moving environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Eligibility to be hired on a temporary basis for up to 90 days.
