Electromechanical Engineer – Design and Build Rugged Systems

About the role

RuneRune Technologies is building mission‑critical logistics software for the U.S. military and needs a hands‑on Electromechanical Engineer to design, build, integrate, test and manufacture rugged physical systems that operate in demanding environments.

Key responsibilities

• Own hardware from concept through production, driving design, integration, prototyping, DFM/DFA, testing, qualification and manufacturing maturation.
• Design rugged enclosures, mounts, assemblies, wiring, and integrate sensors, electronics, power systems, connectors and antennas.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles to move designs from prototype to repeatable production, making decisions on tolerances, materials, processes and cost.
• Create and maintain 3‑D CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, wiring and assembly documentation.
• Partner with suppliers, fabrication shops and contract manufacturers to resolve manufacturing and integration issues.
• Prototype, fabricate, troubleshoot, qualify, install and evaluate hardware in the lab and field, diagnosing mechanical‑electrical failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Proven experience designing, building and testing electromechanical products and strong mechanical design fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience integrating sensors, electronics, power distribution, wiring, connectors and other electrical components.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, engineering drawings, tolerancing and manufacturing documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to apply DFM/DFA to move hardware from prototype to production.
• Capability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and component datasheets.
• Experience designing to military, commercial, safety and environmental standards and developing verification plans.
