Electro-Mechanical Engineer – Failure Investigation Lead

About the role

Moog’s Defense team in Salt Lake City is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to lead failure investigations on missile and defense‑related hardware. You will work on‑site in a collaborative environment with a 9/80 schedule, providing technical expertise to ensure product reliability and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead investigations of production hardware failures by analyzing test telemetry, performance data, and physical components.
• Perform physics‑based fault‑tree and root‑cause analyses to identify manufacturing and product issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test teams to develop corrective actions and process improvements.
• Conduct hands‑on inspections of electromechanical assemblies to determine failure mechanisms.
• Document investigation findings, technical conclusions, and recommended actions for internal and external stakeholders.
• Present status updates, hardware impacts, and recovery plans to leadership and customers.

Required profile

• Experience in failure investigation or reliability engineering on complex electromechanical systems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test data and hardware performance metrics.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate technical information clearly.
• Detail‑oriented mindset with a focus on systematic problem solving.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Salt Lake City, UT, following a first‑shift schedule.
