Electrical V&V Engineer

About the role

Waabi, a leader in Physical AI, is building the technology that powers autonomous trucks and robotaxis. The company is expanding its Pittsburgh team and seeks an experienced Electrical V&V Engineer to ensure the safety and performance of its vehicle electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Characterize vehicle electrical requirements and maintain bidirectional traceability to test evidence.
• Own the electrical DVP&R, planning and executing functional, performance, EMC/EMI, and stress testing on prototypes and production‑intent hardware.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical functionality and compatibility issues, leading root‑cause analysis to closure.
• Collaborate with design, systems, quality, and software engineers to embed V&V and Design‑for‑Test into the program.
• Manage compliance testing and certification activities, adhering to ISO 26262, UL 4600 and other automotive standards.
• Coordinate with external accredited labs for pre‑compliance and formal certification testing.
• Develop and evolve Waabi’s electrical V&V methodology, lab capabilities, and toolchain.
• Assess new OEM DV/PV processes and advise leadership on effort, complexity, and cost.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in an Electrical V&V role, preferably in automotive or heavy‑vehicle applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
• Deep understanding of automotive DV/PV, PPAP, and APQP processes.
• Hands‑on experience working with OEMs, Tier‑1 and Tier‑2 suppliers.
• Familiarity with international automotive environmental and EMC standards (e.g., SAE J1455, ISO 11451/11452, MIL‑STD‑810).

Required skills

• Python, Shell scripting, Unix/Linux environments.
• CANbus communication.
• SPICE circuit simulation.
• SolidWorks, ANSYS, Polarion.
• Design and build of HIL test benches and automated regression testing.
• Accelerated life testing (HALT/HASS) and Weibull reliability analysis.
• Risk analysis techniques: FMEA, FTA, RCA.
