Economist – Research & Policy Analyst

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is seeking economists to support its core missions through scholarly research and policy analysis. You will work on a broad range of topics, from monetary policy to financial stability, applying macro‑economic, micro‑economic, asset‑pricing and corporate‑finance insights.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research for publication in peer‑reviewed academic journals.
• Provide rigorous policy analysis using advanced econometric and modeling techniques.
• Prepare technical memoranda and briefings for senior bank leaders.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts on model development, forecasts, and analytical projects.
• Engage with the academic and official‑sector research communities through seminars, conferences and working groups.

Required profile

• PhD in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field (preferred).
• Strong interest and expertise in macro‑economics/monetary policy, labor economics, econometrics, time‑series analysis, asset pricing, or real estate.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality research and policy analysis.

• Transparent salary range of $170,000 – $280,000, commensurate with experience.
