Director of Project Development

About the role

Graphyte is a climate‑tech company that stores agricultural and timber biomass to create permanent carbon credits. As Director of Project Development you will lead the end‑to‑end creation of new sites, turning raw regional opportunities into construction‑ready, financeable projects.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new project regions against techno‑economic criteria such as biomass supply, land availability, logistics and permitting complexity.
• Negotiate land purchases, leases, options and easements directly with private landowners.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to build trust and secure support for projects.
• Develop and execute permitting strategies across local, state and federal jurisdictions, managing consultants and legal counsel.
• Structure biomass supply, hauling and community‑benefit agreements that make projects financeable.
• Coordinate daily with engineering, finance and operations teams to keep projects on the critical path.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience delivering physical infrastructure or industrial projects (renewables, waste, agriculture‑industrial or similar land‑intensive sectors).
• Proven track record taking projects from greenfield through permitting to construction readiness or final investment decision.
• Hands‑on experience negotiating land agreements directly with owners.
• Demonstrated ability to lead community and stakeholder engagement in rural settings.
