Director of Emerging Technology Risk

About the role

The Director of Emerging Technology Risk will lead the oversight, assessment and reporting of technology and cybersecurity risks linked to Cloud, AI and Digital Assets across Santander US and Santander Bank NA. Positioned in the second line of defense, this senior role collaborates with IT, CISO, Data Office, Operational Risk, Internal Audit and other stakeholders to manage emerging technology risks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ongoing oversight of Cloud, AI and Digital Asset risk exposures.
• Conduct technical risk analyses, identify vulnerabilities and drive remediation.
• Develop and maintain technical risk frameworks and methodologies.
• Prepare and present risk information to governance committees and working groups.
• Escalate critical issues to the Head of Technology and senior leadership.
• Participate in cross‑functional risk reviews and challenge business initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in technology and cybersecurity risk management, preferably in financial services.
• Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape in the US and EU related to emerging technologies.
• Proven ability to work as a subject‑matter expert in a second‑line defense environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with IT, risk, audit and compliance functions.
