Director, Infrastructure Supply Chain Accounting

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Director to own the end‑to‑end accounting of the hardware components that flow through its compute stack, from chips and networking gear to full data‑center build‑outs. You will shape the accounting strategy for a rapidly expanding fixed‑asset portfolio that underpins a $50B+ investment in American computing infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end accounting for compute‑stack components, including cost accumulation, reserves, monthly close, reconciliations, roll‑forwards, flux analysis, and transition to fixed‑asset status.
• Apply ASC 360 technical accounting expertise (capitalization, useful lives, impairment, disposals) and cost‑accounting methods such as standard vs. actual costing, variance analysis, BOM cost accumulation, and landed‑cost calculations.
• Partner with Real Estate, Legal, and Finance teams during contract negotiation to ensure accounting implications are understood.
• Serve as a trusted finance partner to non‑finance stakeholders, translating financial‑statement impacts into clear, actionable guidance.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to improve upstream data pipelines and component tracking, including serial‑number‑level tracking and existence controls for high‑value items.
• Design and scale systems, processes, and controls that support a growing fixed‑asset portfolio.
• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals focused on this portfolio.
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors on fixed‑asset accounting matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading accounting functions for large, complex asset bases.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 360 and fixed‑asset accounting principles.
• Strong cost‑accounting background, including BOM costing and variance analysis.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Real Estate, Legal, Finance, and operations teams.
• Leadership and mentoring experience for accounting staff.
• Experience interfacing with external auditors on fixed‑asset matters.
