Design Manager - Rail and Transit

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the Rail Transit design team on large design‑build and alternative delivery projects. You will work closely with contractor partners, develop in‑depth knowledge of client objectives, and ensure project goals are met on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate marketing and pursuit strategies with business development, including teaming partner approaches for design‑build pursuits.
• Lead project execution from concept through 30% design, providing accurate costing and scheduling.
• Coordinate with third parties, utilities, authorities, and stakeholders to meet regulatory and client requirements.
• Manage scope, commercial performance, and integration of transit‑oriented development, urban design, and sustainability strategies.
• Act as company representative with clients and subcontractors, negotiate scope changes, and secure additional work.

Required profile

• 4‑year degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 + years of relevant experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on design‑build or alternative delivery projects.
• Experience with rail transit systems, preferably MBTA.
