About the role
The Design Engineer will create and optimise foundry tooling using Creo, applying best practices for no‑bake and cold‑box processes. The role focuses on improving quality and reducing lead time for tooling construction in a production foundry environment.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare RFQ tooling and design new pattern and core boxes.
- Resolve casting issues, perform re‑gate and simulation tasks.
- Collaborate with managers to set workflow priorities.
- Work closely with tool designers, engineers, pattern makers and technicians on tool build and process flow.
- Provide technical direction for tooling build projects and supplier interactions.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of relevant foundry engineering experience.
- Associate or Bachelor degree in engineering or related field.
- Proven experience with foundry tooling design, casting defect analysis, and no‑bake/cold‑box processes.
- Strong ability to read machining prints and understand geometric tolerances.
Required skills
- Advanced CAD modeling in Creo.
- Casting simulation using SolidCast (preferred).
- Machining print interpretation and tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of CNC milling (desired).
- Experience with foundry processes, pattern and core box design.
