Design Associate

About the role

Johnson Favaro is seeking a Design Associate to join its Los Angeles studio. The role supports all phases of architectural projects for schools, libraries, community centers, and cultural institutions, working under the guidance of senior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with principal architects to develop design concepts and options.
• Create plans, elevations, sections, 3D renderings, and detailed architectural drawings.
• Produce physical models, sketches, and massing studies for client presentations.
• Utilize Revit to build and coordinate 3D building models.
• Select building systems and materials, preparing detailed specifications.
• Integrate sustainable design principles throughout projects.
• Assist in preparing contract documents and construction administration tasks.

Required profile

• 2‑6 years of professional experience in architectural design.
• Enthusiastic, collaborative mindset with a passion for community‑focused projects.
• Ability to work under general guidance while delivering high‑quality output.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit for 3D modeling and documentation.
• Strong skills in creating architectural drawings, renderings, and physical models.
• Knowledge of building systems, material selection, and sustainable design practices.
