Data Engineer

About the role

Teza Technologies is seeking Data Engineers to join its data team, supporting systematic trading operations. The role is hands‑on, working closely with portfolio managers and quantitative developers to turn business needs into robust data solutions. The position is based on‑site in Austin, TX (or Yerevan, Armenia) and offers rapid growth as the team expands.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Quantitative Developers to translate requirements into technical implementations and explain dataset nuances.
• Design, develop, and extend the data warehouse by adding new data sources, improving performance, scalability, and robustness.
• Evaluate and integrate new tools for large‑scale data storage, querying, and streaming.
• Build automated pipelines for data cleansing, anomaly detection, monitoring, and alerting.
• Maintain and support the production data warehouse and manage vendor relationships.
• Participate in data entitlement management and ensure compliance with business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Experience in the financial industry is a plus.
• Master’s degree is advantageous but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and Unix/Linux scripting.
• Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Understanding of data modeling, both normalization and denormalization.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
• Version control using Git and CI/CD best practices.
• Knowledge of Java, Hadoop, and workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow is desirable.
