About the role
ABB is seeking a senior field service technician to lead start‑up, commissioning and post‑start‑up services for data‑center projects across the United States. The role combines on‑site customer interaction, complex electrical troubleshooting and continuous improvement of power delivery systems.
Key responsibilities
- Lead on‑site customer engagement as ABB’s primary representative, ensuring clear communication and high satisfaction.
- Plan and execute medium‑to‑high complexity start‑up, commissioning and post‑start‑up field services for data‑center equipment.
- Identify and recommend system improvements, upgrades and modernization opportunities.
- Prepare job sites, coordinate subcontractors and ensure material readiness.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues using certified tools.
- Document all work with accurate reports, test records and customer‑signed documentation.
Required profile
- 10+ years hands‑on electrical experience (or equivalent education/experience) with a strong background in power delivery and electrification.
- Deep knowledge of NEC, safety codes and quality‑assurance requirements.
- Proven ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience leading projects or supervising teams in field service environments.
Required skills
- Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite and project/issue‑tracking tools such as BIM, Compass, CxAlloy and Procore.
- Hands‑on experience with Emerson RX3i/Proficy, ABB AC500/Automation Builder, CP600 HMI/Panelbuilder, Zenon/Cimplicity, Woodward Easygen/LSS.
- Network analysis tools (Wireshark, IED Scout) and relay testing/configuration (Siemens, ABB REX640/SSC600/REF615/REG615, SEL, Multilin, RTAC).
