Cross Country Coach for Grades 5-8

About the role

The Buffalo Board of Education is seeking a dedicated Cross Country Coach to lead the grades 5‑8 program at PS 195 City Honors School for the 2026‑2027 school year. The coach will develop training plans, teach race strategies, and foster a positive athletic environment for middle‑school students.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and supervise daily cross country practices and competitions.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and supplies, ensuring proper inventory and storage.
• Adhere to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics and model nondiscriminatory practices.
• Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director, building principal, parents, and students.
• Attend all required meetings, contests, and practices, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Required profile

• Experience coaching organized cross country at club, school, or collegiate level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cross country rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Ability to build effective relationships with administrators, parents, and athletes.
• Must hold a valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification before coaching.
• Physical education teaching certificate or completion of a New York State coaching certification pathway.
