Court Liaison

About the role

exaltyouth is expanding its Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) services in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice. The Court Liaison will work directly within New York courts to identify, assess, and advocate for eligible young people, ensuring they receive appropriate ATI placements and support.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with court personnel to identify eligible youth for the ATI program.
• Engage with defense counsel to arrange alternative incarceration options for their clients.
• Interview prospective clients both incarcerated and at liberty.
• Advocate before the court for client releases into exaltyouth’s ATI programs.
• Prepare and present written and verbal progress reports to the court.
• Coordinate with program staff to support individualized personal plans for each youth.
• Record accurate court‑related information in the organization’s data system.
• Provide information about exaltyouth’s ATI services to the broader criminal‑justice system.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain a Secure Pass through the Office of Court Administration.
• High school diploma or GED/HSE required; Bachelor’s degree, MSW, LMSW, or LCSW preferred.
• Previous court advocacy experience preferred.
• Willingness to work night shifts.
